Window Screen Cleaning (1st Floor)

Window screens are the primary filtration system for your home’s air. Because of their fine mesh design, they act as a magnet for airborne particulates, pollen, and salt film. Over time, these contaminants saturate the mesh, creating a grey, cloudy barrier that restricts airflow and significantly lowers your indoor air quality. Every time you open your window for a breeze, the wind pushes trapped dust and allergens directly into your living space.

Standard DIY cleaning—like spraying a high-pressure hose—is often a mistake. Intense water pressure can stretch the mesh or pop it out of the frame, while simple dusting just moves the particulates around.

We treat window screen cleaning as a necessary sanitary reset for your home's ventilation. Our process involves the careful removal and assessment of each screen to ensure no damage occurs to aged or brittle materials. We perform a methodical wet-extraction, washing away the accumulated environmental film from the mesh and detailed wiping of the frames to remove insect debris and grime. We restore the clarity of your view and the quality of your cross-ventilation.

Breathe cleaner air and restore your home’s curb appeal. Calculate your custom quote on our website and let our technical duo handle the restoration.

Technical Note: This service includes the washing of first-floor screens and frames. We perform a technical assessment before removal; screens that are extremely fragile, sun-damaged, or brittle from age will not be removed to prevent frame failure. We focus on cleaning and sanitization; we do not perform mesh repairs or structural re-screening.

Our Approach

  1. 1

    Preparation and Labeling

The team identifies all first-floor screens. We stage the area with protective padding to ensure frames are never placed directly on abrasive surfaces.

  2. 2

    Safe Extraction

Using a two-person handling technique, we carefully remove the screen from the window frame. We inspect the tabs and tension springs for existing wear to ensure a safe reinstallation later.

  3. 3

    Particulate Extraction (Dry Phase)

For moderately soiled screens, we use industrial HEPA vacuums with soft-brush attachments. This removes the "loose" layer of pollen and dust before it can be turned into a muddy paste by liquids.

  4. 4

Deep Rinse or Wipe (Wet Phase)

Depending on the level of salt or grease buildup, we either perform a professional wipe-down with high-quality microfibers or move the screen to an outdoor rinse station. We use eco-friendly surfactants that break the static bond of Florida dust.

  5. 5

    Frame Detailing

We don't just clean the mesh. We wipe down the entire perimeter of the screen frame, removing the grime that often hides in the tracks and corners.

  6. 6

    Inspection and Drying

Each screen is inspected against the light to ensure no "ghosting" or debris remains in the mesh pores. We ensure the units are properly dried to prevent water spots.

  7. 7

    Precision Reinstallation

The team carefully places the screens back into their respective windows, ensuring they are seated correctly and the locks are engaged.

  8. 8

    Final Quality Audit

The team lead verifies the clarity and fit of every screen, documenting the final state for the client photo report.

What's Included

  • Screen Handling & Assessment: careful extraction of the window screen with a preliminary assessment of the mesh and hardware (removal is bypassed if critical material degradation is detected).
  • Dry Debris Extraction: preliminary dry removal of loose dust, dead insects, and cobwebs from the mesh to prevent smearing during the wet wash.
  • Wet Mesh Washing: delicate wet washing of the screen material using soft brushes and a cleaning solution to eliminate Florida pollen, salt film, and embedded outdoor dirt.
  • Frame & Hardware Detailing: thorough wet-wiping of the aluminum or plastic perimeter frame, including corners and mounting tabs.
  • Secure Reinstallation: returning the clean screen to its original position and carefully locking it back into the window frame.
  • (Technical Note): due to harsh Florida sun exposure, window screens and their plastic mounting tabs often dry rot and become extremely brittle. If a technician identifies a high risk of the mesh tearing or hardware snapping during removal, the screen will be left in place, and we will perform a gentle dry-cleaning only to protect your property.

Frequently Asked Questions

Screen removal requires technicians to handle large, fragile frames from the exterior of the property. Operating on ladders or roofs while manipulating screens poses severe occupational safety hazards and a high risk of dropping the asset. Therefore, we strictly limit this Add-on to ground-level access.

Our service focuses on cleaning. If we encounter a screen that is already damaged, we will document it in your photo report before cleaning. We do not currently offer screen repair or rescreening services.

No. High pressure can stretch or tear window mesh. We use low-pressure rinses or industrial vacuums to ensure the integrity of the screen is protected while removing 100% of the debris.

If the screens require a screwdriver or specialized tools for removal, please let us know in advance. Standard cleaning assumes the screens are held by standard tension clips or tabs.

Window screens are often seated in tracks that collect a lot of debris. While we wipe the frame of the screen, deep cleaning of the actual window tracks is a separate, more labor-intensive service which you can find here.

Yes. Our vacuum and soft-wipe method is safe for all standard residential screen materials, including solar and pet-resistant mesh.

No. During the pre-service assessment, if a screen exhibits brittleness, UV degradation, or existing tears, the technician will bypass the unit. Applying water pressure or mechanical friction to compromised mesh guarantees structural failure, which violates our Asset Protection policy.

The Add-on protocols are separate and explicit. The Window Screens Add-on covers the mesh frames only. If the glass panels require chemical washing while the screens are removed, the Exterior Windows (1st Floor) Add-on must be applied concurrently.
